‘That Rihanna reign just won’t let up’. Says who, pray tell. Sure, as far as the Hot 100 goes, very few can of a chart run as as impressive as Rihanna‘s- with 60 million digital singles sold since her arrival seven years ago. Unfortunately for her, despite scoring her first US #1 album with ‘Unapologetic‘ last week, her run on the album’s chart took a cruel turn for the worst this week. Chart check below… Unable to match feats landed by Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj and her idol Beyonce (who have all enjoyed multiple weeks in the Top Two), Ms. Fenty failed to nab a second week atop the Billboard 200 after she suffered an unfortunate 70% decrease in sales, pushing an embarrassing 72,356 units. Outsold by Taylor Swift‘s ‘RED‘ (135,682 units) and Alicia Keys‘ ‘Girl On Fire’, the Elijah Blake aided album now sits at #6, set to drop further next week with the arrival of many a Christmas release. What makes the singer’s sales tumble all the more worse, is that has failed to match second week numbers secured by that of Beyonce‘s ’4‘, which moved 115,ooo units in ‘week 2′ despite the benefit of a smash hit akin to the Sia penned ‘Diamonds’. Worse yet, might be the fact that the album now looks set to ‘enjoy’ a slow ascent to the 1 million units sold mark- facing the same fate as her 2011 ‘Talk That Talk‘ which took a year to reach Platinum status. Sorry about it. Source. Elijah Blake praises ‘Unapologetic’.
